Latitude lets you see your friends’ exact locations and status messages. Share your location and status with selected friends. Get started by selecting “Join Latitude” in the menu, or learn more and get the Latitude iGoogle gadget at google.com/latitude. Latitude is availabe on Symbian S60 3rd Edition, Windows Mobile, and BlackBerry phones. Unfortunately it is not available for other Java-enabled phones.

By clicking on the map based on the icon, friends and family members can call, text, e-mail, instant messaging or the user. Will also provide maps of routes to their location. Once they have chosen, users can hide their locations indivduals or the entire group at any time.

Latitude is part of Google Maps for Mobile, the company’s mapping software for mobile phones, It relies on Google Maps “My Location feature, which uses signals from nearby cell phone towers in the plot where the user is located. The GPS is not necessary. Google earlier text-based application Dodgeball has never been more of a niche application.
