HTC leaves the market in South Korea

HTC is closing its office in Seoul, as it can not continue to fight in the Korean market with the Samsung, LG and Pantech. Last year, the share of the Taiwanese company was fixed at 2%, but in 2012 fell to 1% and continues to decline. Earlier, HTC for the same reason left the market in Brazil.

The decision is not devoid of common sense. Analysts say a very strong local players controlling 90% of Korean mobile market, and an army of customers who are loyal to their brands. So, despite positive feedback from media profile, the model HTC One X looks in the eyes of potential consumers is weaker than proposals from a direct competitor.

Even in the smartphone segment based on operating system Windows Phone 8 HTC does not want to compete with Samsung and LG.

The company’s management is optimistic about the future and has high hopes for the Chinese market, where the base of mobile users continues to grow, and price competition has not yet reached its peak.
