Pioneer optical drive called BDR-S08J, writing discs BDXL, the fastest in the industry


Pioneer has announced the release of an optical drive BDR-S08J, installed in the compartment size 5.25-inch chassis. New touted as one of the fastest in its class, the maximum claimed speed burning BD-R – 15x, dual-layer BD-R DL – 14x.

Writing data to other formats, Pioneer BDR-S08J performs at the following speeds:
Three-layer BD-R – 8x;
Four-layer BD-R – 6x;
BD-RE (one-, two-and three-layer) – 2;
DVD-R, + R – 16x;
Dual Layer DVD-R, + R, DVD + RW – 8x;
DVD-RW – 6x;
DVD-RAM – 5x;
CD-R – 40x;
CD-RW -24 x.
According to the manufacturer maximum read speeds are as follows:
Single-layer BD-ROM – 12x;
Double-layer BD-ROM – 8x;
Single-layer DVD-ROM – 16x;
Double-layer DVD-ROM – 12x;
CD-ROM – 40x.

ODD is equipped with 4 MB of buffer memory and connected via SATA 3 Gb / s. Included with the drive supplied drivers for Windows 8, as well as applications Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 and PowerDirector 9. Dimensions and weight of the device – 181 x 148 x 42.3 mm and 740 grams respectively.

Pioneer BDR-S08J will go on sale in Japan in mid-November, the estimated cost of new items – $ 290.
