After nearly six months have passed since the purchase of equipment from Western Digital for 3.5-inch HDD size, Toshiba announced the release of the respective hard drive form factor volume from 1.5 to 3 TB. Twelve reservoirs are grouped into two series, DT01ACA and DT01ABA, but as part of each series – two models of 1.5, 2 and 3 TB.

HDD line DT01ACA support SATA 6 Gb / s, equipped with 64 MB of cache and are characterized by a spindle speed of 7200 rev / min. Representatives of the line is also connected to DT01ABA SATA 6 Gb / s, but the amount of buffer memory they have fewer – 32 MB. Representatives DT01ABA, whose volume is equal to 1.5 and 2 TB, characterized by a spindle speed of 5700 rev / min and rotation speed of 3 TB models slightly higher – 5940 rev / min.
As the developers say, when you create a new tough, special attention was paid to reducing energy consumption and improve the acoustic comfort. Thus, the maximum level of noise and maximum power consumption of 3 models show line TB DT01ACA – 28 dB, and 6.4 W respectively. The lowest power consumption (4.7 W) and noise (22 dB) are characterized by models of 1.5 and 2 TB series DT01ABA.
Toshiba plans to start mass production of new HDD later this month, but the cost of storage is not reported.
