Despite all the rumors of a powerful gaming hardware on next-generation consoles, at least one game developer is still confident that the new game consoles from Microsoft and Sony will not be on a par with most of the performance mainstream PC.

Cevat Yerli (Cevat Yerli), founder and leader of the developer of video games – studio Crytek, – in an interview with Eurogamer portal shared his thoughts on the power of next-gen consoles:

“That’s not afraid of any NDA (non-disclosure agreements. – Ed), and being realistic, I would say that the main stumbling block in dealing with such issues is the final cost of the console. It’s impossible to pack iron cost 2000-3000 dollars a mainstream console, say, $ 500. ”

And then he adds:

“I’m not saying that these consoles will cost $ 500. They [the company] can start selling them for $ 2,000, but in this case, it will not be a mass product. Purchasing power is usually much lower than that amount. So to fit in its available product value and value of this powerful gaming PC, which consumes a lot of power (like the refrigerator, for example) – it is impossible. ”

One of the problems with Sony and Microsoft, with which all of us have to face is that they have chosen the same processor architecture, which they will use for many years, despite the fact that the computer market is constantly evolving, and the cost of computer components is declining.

Crytek also shared that noticeable steady increase power of the PC, which will eventually have to play into the hands of all members of this market. Future titles will appear on the home computer is much better than any of the consoles. In addition Crytek expressed the desire and hope that Sony and Microsoft will switch to free-to-play business model in their new consoles.
